I oppose this Rule Making change. It is unnecessary and has potential for causing both confusion and impeding emergency communications. There is good reason why the existing Part 97 rules for station identification is the right balance for allowing public identification of amateur radio operators during both emergency and non-emergency use, does not impede active emergency communications or practice exercises. I have been personally involved in active emergency communications in my area using amateur radio, and the existing Part 97 rule for station identification has never been a problem even when we've had nets of dozens of operators. I foresee the proposal of having the net control operator recite all participant callsigns as a true impediment to timely and efficient operation of an emergency or other use net, and should be denied. I urge the FCC the deny the proposed changes to Part 97 in this filing RM-11826.
