Letter to FCC I rigorously oppose Sinclair Broadcast Group purchase of Tribune. Sinclair Broadcast Group the largest TV conglomerate in the nation should not be able to add another 42 stations into their consolidated signal. It will hurt local news and have reach that will pass into the homes of 70 percent of the U.S. population. They will control more than 200 stations nationwide It’s a concern that a merger that would be so harmful to rural areas, independent news stations and citizens could even be considered. The FCC should reject this takeover proposal - until we thoroughly understand the media landscape and how critical independent local broadcast stations are in a democracy - Reject this merger outright on the grounds that Sinclair would have excessive, unbalanced market power over the industry Important to note that this would include some of the nations largest cities including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas and Denver. It would give Sinclair a dangerous level of power over the local TV marketplace. This is dangerous and is in direct opposition to the charter of the FCC Please protect our fourth estate at a crucial time. This is no time for consolidation of voices, allowing this potentially puts our democracy in danger. In opposition
