I support the initiative of RM-1833 for the FCC to nullify attempts of state and local governments to regulate the use of amateur radio equipment in vehicles. Not only is there no need for state and local governments to impose such regulations, and not only would the imposition of such regulations be to the detriment of amateur radio and consequently the public, the proliferation of regulations -- each with its own definitions, exemptions, etc -- would create bewildering inconsistencies across jurisdictions. Furthermore I call to the attention of the FCC that pending legislation such as H144 in the North Carolina General Assembly would also impact licensees under Parts 90 and 96.
