To whom it concerns: The Internet is the most important infrastructure system that has newly arisen in my lifetime. As a programmer, fast and unobstructed access to the Internet will be vital to my future career. It is unambiguously in the public's best interest to maintain Title II classification and to uphold "Net Neutrality" principals. To allow greedy, duplicitous, monopolistic corporations to take over and dismantle this infrastructure for their own ill-gotten gain would be a betrayal of the American people that will never be forgiven. It will weaken the US and drive innovators to base themselves in other nations that provide a better standard. I personally have never written the Government in any form before. But this is the last straw. Do not be fooled by the twisted claims from the ISP lobbies that consumers are looking to purchase proprietary "information services" on top of their access, from ISPs. What we want, as consumers, is a free and open 'giant pipe' that gets us online in an unlimited way. No data caps, no throttling, no paid prioritization, no overselling of capacity, no privacy violations. Every single thing I use the Internet for, from gaming to communication to research, in no way makes use of my ISP's features, beyond mere access. I use Gmail and can't fathom having that service impacted in any way in the attempt to sway me to use my ISP's terrible, inferior email service. I use YouTube and don't ever want to see that slowed down to try to force the ISP's video services on me. When I purchase electricity, I expect to use it for anything I please. It is no business of the owner's of the infrastructure to determine if I should pay more or less just because I use it to run a washing machine instead of lighting, for example. All data is created equal, it is just '1s and 0s'. How that transfer capacity is used by the consumer is irrelevant to the ISP. They exist to provide access and nothing more. Do not let them insert themselves into the middle of that relationship and try to charge services (like Google and Netflix) and consumers more on a case by case basis on their whim. The large ISPs have a well documented history of neglecting their promises to the Government (and by extention, the American people). The Telecommunications Act Of 1996 is a great example, this article is worth reading: http://www.avclub.com/article/telecommunications-act-1996-gave-us-shitty-cell-se-240874 Basically, don't trust them (the ISPs). They are not benevolent advocates of the American people. They are snakes trying to undermine a wonderful and vital piece of American ingenuity. Their greed is NOT why we elected you. You are to serve US! Get to work.
