I don't know how much my opinion will matter in this, seeing how i have never been part of the U.S.A, but I'll chip in anyway. Net Neutrality is insanely important. Without Net Neutrality, we lose our last medium of allowing small and upcoming companies to thrive. In a world where nobody really reads the newspapers or listens to the radio ads anymore and rather just use the internet, and the amount of people using Netflix outnumbers the amount of people using cable TV, the loss of Net Neutrality would destroy all methods of getting that little company of yours out there, and we would never have wonderful new websites that came from nothing like Reddit, Facebook, Netflix, Ebay, Amazon etc. Let's be honest, pretty much no sane person outside of the minority of people that just so happen to be CEOs of cable companies WANT net-neutrality to go. There are no real benefits to having no Net Neutrality unless you're one of the few being allowed to censor websites competing against you, strangling all of your viable competition or charge people on top of their already over-sized fees to use the websites they want. Now that we've got past the important stuff, let's get to something else that will also be ruined by this 'Restoring Internet Freedom Act'. Gaming. Now I know there are a lot of people who will be glad to see gaming as a hobby be practically eliminated by this act, namely the Dads and Grandads who say that buying a $2k gaming rig is a waste of time and money right before buying their new $10k camping appliance that they use maybe 2 times a month, but there are so many people who would be utterly devastated by this. As someone who spent 2-3 years saving for the PC of their dreams, losing the ability to play online games would definitely affect me quite badly. There are entire cultures and cultural events built around Gaming and other online hobbies that will be completely stomped out if we lose Net Neutrality. Look at conventions like PAX, for example. This is an absolutely colossal event that brings thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands of people together to have the best day of their lives, and brings lots of money from overseas into the country too. Now here's my personal opinion. Net Neutrality is awesome. I would hate to see it go, and I know that if the U.S.A loses Net Neutrality most of us in different countries will be pulled down too. I don't want to see one of the greatest nations of the world be sucked from the rest of the planet like what has happened with China and North Korea. This is a massive issue, and although I trust that the right choice will be made, I still have my doubts. In case this letter is read and acknowledged by anyone, I would like to tell the reader that Net Neutrality is a wonderful thing. Please, please, please... Don't let it die.
