As a freelance artist, I've been trying to make enough to support myself for years, now. Finally, I have enough of a following to make a semi-decent living, but a large part of that is being able to stream for fans who support me, and being able to have conversations on Skype with potential clients. A larger part is being able to research the subjects of my work, download new software, and keep connected to my small audience. I already live in an duopoly, way out on the border of the service area. In 2017, I am still paying for a landline to support DSL internet service, because it's the only thing available to me. I am already fighting terrible internet service. Allowing companies to further throttle my service depending on which sites I use will kill my small business. It will kill my career. I understand that there's 'money to be made', but there's also freedoms to be kept. My personal stake in this fight isn't what motivates me to protest allowing this - it's the thought that companies will be able to control what media I consume. I've never known a corporation not to find a loophole to further agendas and profits, and I'm terrified that letting these companies decide what sites get what bandwith will result in an amalagous, agenda-washed version of the world. Please, reconsider allowing this to happen.
