Dear Chairman Pai, FCC, and Members of Congress, Please maintain current FCC Open Internet Rules, including Title II classification. I am a scientist, whose work has broad application in many arenas, including bioinformatics, drug design and discovery, and development of novel approaches to analysis and modeling of Big Data. I use the Internet for many applications associated with my work, including connecting with simulations running on machines in numerous locations around the planet. Additionally I use the Internet to connect with colleagues and collaborators all over the world, and to access information and data located at many sites. An elimination of Title II classification will significantly hamper my ability to continue my research, as much of my Internet communication needs will almost surely be relegated to "slow lanes", as they will not relate to transfer of data produced by large companies which can pay for preferred "fast lane" treatment by ISPs. And there will be no recourse to simply choose a better broadband provider; there is only one viable option where I live. Additionally, removal of Title II classification will give ISPs enormous power over the transfer of information, allowing them to censor content to suit their own purposes. Broad Internet censorship at this scale will greatly diminish the US's competitiveness on the global stage. Sincerely, Dr. David Rideout
