First of all I would like to do two things; One. I would like to thank whomever reads this for taking the time and effort to do so, and I hope you will hear me out. Two. I will also say the amount of bots submitting identical reports is disturbing, but I understand you can do nothing about it. I can only hope you ignore them and do not count them. Now that we have that over with I would like to get onto the bulk of my message. As not only a taxpayer and voter, but someone who would be massively affected by this bill and the resulting aftermath I feel the need to voice my concerns about why it should not be passed. The ability for companies and government to monitor and catalogue internet activity is an obvious danger to free speech and practically begging for those involved to use it as blackmail against individuals. I'm sure we have all made some questionable comments or seen some questionable things (The latter not always on purpose as Virus's, links from others, and various things can lead people to some... disturbing sites and images.) and it is my opinion that to monitor and be able to store and use this information against the american people is dangerously close to "thought crime". People can and will say things they either do not mean, or do not mean in a certain way. Likewise these can always be misconstrued to make someone look bad. Imagine that this would not only just be what would be posted publically, but everything. You could feasibly end up jailed for something you said drunk, or in jest years ago. I think we are all smart enough to see how and why this is an issue. The ability for companies to decide how much bandwidth someone may get and to certain sites and apps is is seemingly almost written with censorship in mind. Companies being able to throttle the connection to certain sites and apps to the point of near uselessness would undoubtedly be used to keep people away from news sites and other sites the owner of the company did not agree with politically, religiously, or otherwise... That is to say if these sites are not just blocked outright. Likewise giving more bandwidth to sites the company agrees with could make people prefer those sites due to the faster speed. Urging people to use these sites for news regardless of how inaccurate they may be.
