I, as a consumer of a locally monopolized internet service provider, am purchasing bandwidth at a certain rate. And I expect to receive that service for my money for any legal use of that bandwidth. What I do legally with my bandwidth is my choice and my personal private business, not the government's, the provider's to datamine and monetize in order to resell my personal and private info as they see fit, and not for the provider to throttle in preference to a competing content providing service. If providers want to further monetize their services, then the FCC needs to strike down locally created monopolies, and allow the tax-funded infrastructure to be utilized by more than just the single, designated service provider. Right now, these local monopolies are in positions allowing them to abuse their powers: throttling, monetizing for ad revenues, neglect of customers' needs. We, as the consumers, can do nothing about it.
