Net neutrality is the modern equivalent of freedom of the press, mixed with freedom of speech.  If vested interests control access to otherwise free information, our entire system is compromised.  The founding fathers knew that open access to information was critical to the functioning of the country as it provides the public the opportunity whenever possible to observe and comment on the government.  For the government to restrict this capability, or put it in the hands of non-neutral interests risks our entire democracy.
