So, there's a rumor going around that your commission (the FCC) would like to make it easier for companies to classify lower speeds as broadband. It's a sad day when the idea of American progress and American exceptionalism means letting the rest of the world take the lead. If companies aren't required to offer decents speeds (my definition is anything that lets you stay competitive as a multimedia professional) then they will pretty much skip over most of America. If profit is their only motive and there aren't enough competing choices for most Americans, then we will see a steady increase in prices without the improvements in product offerings. Ask yourself this: will I help make the internet better for the average American? Sure, unrestricted competition sounds great, but how many people do you know who can actually shop around for their internet access? There's only two options where I live and one is the cheaper slower option and the other is the waaaaay overpriced faster option. If there was actual competition, the faster option wouldn't be so rediculously priced and the slower option wouldn't be so slow.
