Our society today has been built upon an open internet.  Innovation and societal betterment has been linked to the internet; keeping it open has allowed the average American an outlet to exercise their Freedom of Speech, a way to better themselves and their position in life with access to information that might not be readily available in their area, and a way to share ideas and advance scientific discovery.
