Please preserve Net Neutrality laws. In most of America, consumers are given little to no choice about what ISP they can choose due to either lack of infrastructure or the monopolistic nature of these corporations. In today's society, an ISP is no different than any other utility. Consider the victims of natural disaster. When they're hit by a hurricane, they need water, electricity, and the ability to communicate. When 911 lines are flooded, people use social networking sites to put out distress calls. This is the nature of our digital world. Our ability to communicate, work, research, study, access every conceivable service including healthcare rely on this service. Deregulating corporations to whom profit is the only goal puts the nation at risk. There has never been an instance in which a corporation, freed of its legal fetters, has opted for a benevolent or altrusitic approach to its consumers. Prices only rise. Deregulation is more than just a nuisance to us; it affects people's lives. Please do not give the green light to corporations that will allow them to charge whatever they choose at times when people need to use their services the most, or to arbitrarily throttle the service of those who are not wealthy enough to afford the priviledge of communication with the outside world.
