The dissemination of information is an integral component of free speech. With the potential repeal of Title II net neutrality rules, the FCC is infringing on the peoples' rights to free speech. If the repeal of net neutrality rules is passed, internet service providers can limit which information is received by users. This is potentially very dangerous, as ISPs can use this power to push their own agendas, whether it be the preference of political positions, to the limitation of knowledge due to the exclusivity of information. The internet has been an essential tool for gathering people of many different viewpoints and backgrounds around the world. It would be a sad day to see this freedom of communication limited by ISPs. The repeal of net neutrality would also mean the loss of interest in investment in the websites and internet infrastructure. ISPs could also slow down their bandwidth in times of peak demand, which as a necessity for millions of Americans, would be unacceptable. If Title II is repealed, current monopolies will be able to throttle bandwidth in preference of certain websites, making startups and growing websites a thing of the past. This would violate the principles of a free market which has been allowed in part to net neutrality rules. I am sure that I stand with millions of Americans when I say that I demand a free, fast, and open internet. I ask that you side with the interests of U.S. citizens over those of big corporations.
