Net Neutrality Comment I am a retired computer professional who has used computers and networks for decades. I have seen the Internet grow from a small series of researchers to a hobbyist tool to an ever widening public use that is now fundamental to life in the US - arguably more critical than traditional land line telephone service and broadcast television and on a par with electric power and water/sewer services. From that viewpoint, I cannot fathom anyone thinking removal of net neutrality regulations is of benefit to anyone other than a handful of Internet backbone carriers. Whether you view this as a fairness issue, a free speech issue, or an anti-monopoly issue, the conclusion is the same. We as consumers sometimes get to choose our ISP (though many like myself have few real options), and that is legitimately a local issue for cities and counties to deal with. None of us have a choice in backbone carriers, and we don’t even have any way to tell what carrier is used at any given time. That to me more than anything indicates the FCC must continue to strongly regulate this industry so critical to our economy.
