Dear Chairman Pai, I am the owner of a small digital advertising agency in Denver, Colorado. I started the business just over 5 years ago and now have 10 employees. In my 17 years of working experience starting in 2000 I have done technology consulting and entrepreneurship most of the time. I am a member of an international entrepreneurs group and active in my local chamber of commerce. I am really confused as to why you would be considering reversing net neutrality. This move only seems to benefit large corporations and will surely penalize small companies like my own. I get the concept that having the government get out of the way of business could create faster growth, but if you look from my point of view over the last 17 years the vast majority of the successful innovation seems to be coming from companies who are participating in businesses that are in some way internet related. We lead the world in this area and by changing the field at this stage you are in effect creating a situation where government is influencing the winners and losers only those winners and losers will be those with the strongest lobby rather than those with the best innovation. You will dull the sharpest part of our economy in an effort to prop up companies that continue to grow under the current rules. Not only that, but you will effectively allow a taxation of individuals and businesses by huge telecoms that look to increase their bottom line. I’m very concerned about this move and hope you will consider the potential effects.
