I concur with the comments filed by the Amateur Radio Safety Foundation, Inc. in support of the Commission’s proposal and encourage the elimination of the outdated symbol rate limits. I am an ARES Emergency Coordinator in Washington. The ability of amateur radio operators to communicate via digital modes is essential during natural disaster response and recovery. This is evidenced by the FCC opening up the bandwidth during the devastating hurricanes in 2017 and 2018. Eliminating the outdated symbol rate limits will help make it financially feasible for more amateur radio operators to invest in the equipment to do communicate during emergencies and disasters.
