As yet another regulatory body falls to people who it use to regulate, rules are being put into place to favor vested corporate interests. Let's be clear, Ajit Pai, the chairman of the Federal Communication Commission, used to work for Verizon, then he was a lobbyist, now he is in charge of the body that regulates Verizon, who has waged many a war with the FCC. Remember how certain Verizon broadband customers suffered slow Netflix because Verizon wanted it's own streaming service a couple of years ago and the FCC stepped in? “Under my proposal, the federal government will stop micromanaging the internet,” In other words, 'here you go Verizon (or any other mega comms corp who has vested interest in pushing their content faster than their competitors), lets rip that regulation up, now you can slow those competitors down. Or better yet charge an extra $1.99 per month to your monopoly tied customers to be even able to access Netflix.' The electricity company doesn't get to dim your bulbs and then offer you a Brighter Bulb Monthly Subscription. The same needs to be true of the internet. All data must be equal. That is why, this proposal to remove Net Neutrality stinks. No Mr. Pai, it won't increase innovation or rural build out, it will smother it. Net Neutrality is not government takeover, it establishes an even playing field of ground rules and says, 'have at it.' Regulating it at this level means any one can compete be they aan ISP or Mom and Pop Business trying to get traffic to their website with out the threat of their competition lobying their ISP to throttle them. I urge you to maintain Net Neutrality and maintain the inernet as a Utility.
