I strongly request the FCC remove of the archaic 300 baud data limit. The United States has always lead the world in innovation and Amateur Radio was a hobby that attracted young innovative minds. But today our hobby is dying because of outdated technology and lack of innovation and vision. The artificial restrictions on 300 baud data rates are just one example of a rule that hurts the our ability to compete in the world market and to attract future hams that could be tomorrows scientist. 300 baud data technology is a hold over from the pre-computer era of 1970's and it's absurd this is even a discussion. The need to send high speed data over a single 2.8khz HF voice channel is long overdue. By not removing this obscure limit hurts the Amateur Radio community and its ability to provide a long tradition of public service in time of emergency diaster. One of the most embarrassing aspects to the United States is that Mexico and Canada are already using high speed data on the exact same HF frequencies that US Amateurs operate. I urge the Federal Communications Commission to Please step up and do what is best for our country, our volunteers and the public service they provide their fellow citizens.
